Abstract
Nowadays the use of flash disk as storage device is increased, but in the other side many of it's user didn't realize the fact that it can be used as operating system boot media. More from that, commonly used operating system and office application were proprietary one thus make the price is higher that make it difficult to make business from it. From that problem, a free and portable operating system is needed. In this research the operating system that used is Linux, and will be injected to an USB Flash disk. According to the experiment, Linux Ubuntu injected to an USB Flash disk satisfy the need of free and portable operating system. Furthermore, the office application supplied within Ubuntu had been proven enough to handle office needs and had file format compatibility with the Microsoft Office which is known as proprietary one.
