Abstract

Touchscreen is one type of input device on the computer. Equipment is widely used because it is practical. But the touchscreen available are generally relatively small and also relatively expensive, especially if large. For this reason this research attempted to make touchscreen with a large size with a relatively cheaper price. By using the method Frustrated Total Internal Reflection (FTIR). These methods limit the infrared light that is passed to the acrylic, and acrylic will reflect infrared rays when there is a finger pressing. Then, the reflections will be read by the infrared camera and will be interpreted as input. In this study successfully created both the hardware and software for the touchscreen with the FTIR method. And from trials that have been done by thirty times the experiment successfully detected the touch coordinates are accurate.
